civilian-claim1959· Boianai and Giwa missions, Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea

The Boianai mission reported additional UFO activity on June 28, 1959, the night after the primary sighting, and again during the following weeks. A total of over sixty separate sightings were logged from the Boianai and Giwa mission stations between April and August 1959, according to regional mission records.

Gill had written to Reverend David Durie before the June 26 event describing an earlier sighting by his assistant Stephen Moi of an 'inverted saucer-shaped object.' The sustained activity over multiple months, logged by mission staff across two stations, was what prompted parliamentary questions in Australia and triggered the RAAF's formal investigation. Gill later said he felt no fear during the encounters and treated the figures as curious rather than threatening.
