civilian-claim2011· Buenos Aires, Argentina
In May 2011, Argentina's Air Force officially launched the Commission for the Investigation of Aerospace Phenomena (CEFAe), headquartered at FAA headquarters in Buenos Aires. Its first public report, released in 2015, analyzed multiple documented cases from Argentine airspace. Argentina thereby joined Chile, Uruguay, Peru, and Brazil as Latin American nations with active, institutionalized military UFO investigation bodies.
The creation of CEFAe formalized investigation that Argentine pilots and controllers had reported informally for decades. The 2015 report drew on radar data, pilot testimony, and photographic evidence. In 2016, CEFAe hosted an international conference on aerospace phenomena research methodology, attended by representatives from other national investigation bodies. Argentina's case files include the 1995 Bariloche incident and multiple radar-confirmed approach tracks at Ezeiza International Airport.
