Following the 1989-1990 Belgian UFO wave, the Société belge d'étude des phénomènes spatiaux (SOBEPS) published a 500-page scientific report, Vague d'OVNI sur la Belgique (1991), compiling approximately 2,600 witness accounts, gendarmerie files, and air force radar data, the most comprehensive official UFO wave report produced by any European nation.
A second volume followed in 1994. The Belgian Air Force cooperated with the investigation and allowed SOBEPS researchers access to restricted radar records from the March 30-31 F-16 interception. General De Brouwer wrote the foreword stating: 'The day will come undoubtedly when the phenomenon will be observed with the technological means necessary to identify it.' The wave produced no confirmed conventional explanation across its entire duration.
