Aeronautica Militare OVNI Annual Report 2022

Italian Air Force 2022 annual O.V.N.I. log: 14 sightings across Italy cross-checked against Armed Forces records and formally classified as O.V.N.I. after no correlation with known flight or radiosonde activity was found.

Brief

The Aeronautica Militare's Stato Maggiore published its calendar-year 2022 O.V.N.I. register in the standard 'intercalare segnalazioni' tabular format, cataloguing 14 events reported via Carabinieri-forwarded accounts and, in one case, by Air Force personnel directly. All 14 events were ruled out as known flight operations or radiosonde activity and formally designated O.V.N.I. A dense July cluster of six sightings near Massa Lubrense (Naples province) described multiple spherical objects at altitudes from 500 meters to 10,000 meters. The sole military-witness entry — Entry 13, Fonte Laurentina, Rome, 14 November 2022 — described a static disc-shaped object with luminous points at approximately 200 meters altitude, yet received the same standard O.V.N.I. classification as every civilian report.

Key points

  • 14 discrete events were catalogued for calendar year 2022, spanning January through December and covering nine Italian provinces.p.2
  • All 14 sightings were formally classified as O.V.N.I. after Air Force cross-check found no match with known flight operations or radiosonde activity.p.2
  • Six consecutive sightings (entries 3-8) clustered in the Massa Lubrense (NA) coastal area between 11 and 18 July 2022, describing multiple spherical objects in orange, white, and red at altitudes from 500 meters to 10,000 meters.p.4
  • Entry 10 (Chivasso, TO, 19 August 2022) described a dark triangular object with bright circles at each vertex, traveling east-to-west in straight-line constant motion, altitude stated as lower than a commercial airliner.p.9
  • Entry 13 (Fonte Laurentina, Rome, 14 November 2022) is the only sighting filed by Aeronautica Militare personnel; the object was disc-shaped, dark with luminous points, static at approximately 200 meters.p.12
  • Entry 12 (Lonate Pozzolo, VA — adjacent to Malpensa International Airport) described a luminous grey elliptical object at very low altitude moving at high speed on a north-to-west horizontal track.p.11
  • Entries 6-8 (Pineta, Massa Lubrense, 14-18 July 2022, ~22:00) described irregular forms at approximately 2 meters altitude with lateral displacements — the lowest-altitude events in the register — with no color or speed recorded.p.7

Most interesting

  • Entry 13 is the only sighting in the 2022 register filed by active Aeronautica Militare personnel — yet the disc-shaped, hovering object at 200 meters was classified O.V.N.I. under the identical formula applied to every civilian report.
  • The Massa Lubrense coastline (Naples province) produced six of the 14 entries — roughly 43 percent of the year's total — within an eight-day window in July 2022.
  • Entries 6-8 describe objects at approximately 2 meters altitude with lateral displacements and carry no color or speed data, making them the lowest-altitude and least-characterized events in the entire register.
  • Two distinct RISCONTRI formula variants appear across the report: entries 1-5 cite failure to associate the event with flight or radiosonde activity; entries 9-14 shift to 'no correlations emerged' with any known flight activity or phenomenon — a broader exclusion criterion applied without explanation.
  • Entry 12 originates from Lonate Pozzolo, located within a few kilometers of Malpensa International Airport's active flight corridors; the Air Force's finding of no correlation with known traffic there is a notable data point.
  • Entries 6, 7, and 8 are grouped on a single tabular row despite representing three separate nights (July 14, 15, and 18), suggesting either a single continuous observation series or a reporting consolidation decision by the Stato Maggiore.
