This FBI FD-302 records a 2026 telephonic interview with a U.S. person who described two western U.S. incidents involving red lights, NOD-only ground lights, a fast moving light streak, and an analog watch that appeared 25 minutes fast.
The interviewee said the first incident began around 2200 after heavy rain, when a red light near a western mountain crest moved east and was later joined by roughly 6 to 10 more red lights overhead. The lights appeared as single points at first, including through Night Optical Devices, but closer viewing made each cluster look like three lights in a triangular or diamond-shaped pattern. A later episode around 2350 involved two lights visible only through NODs about 200 to 300 meters away, a fast moving light streak, disappearing lights, and one analog watch reading 25 minutes fast while digital clocks matched. The FD-302 records no reported physiological effects.

At a pp r oximately 2200 . , after t h e y had gone appr oximate ly 25 miles , - no t iced a red l i ght at t he crest o f t h e mountain ra nge t o the i r west and pulled over t o investigate . Initially , though t the ligh t was something o n the mounta i n , but it began t o move t o the east . Due to the mountain range being approximately 5000 feet an d t h e c l oud cover being at a pprox i mately 7000 feet , s tated he believed t h e l ight was t rave l ing somewhere between 5000 and 7000 feet above g r ound l eve l (AGL} . After approximately 15 minute s , as - watched this light , multip l e more (appr oximate ly 6 t o 10 ) lights appeared directly over thei r position . These lights , along with t h e first - observed light , appeared t o "sync up " and trave l e d t o t he east /southeast . During this t i me , o ne o f the li ghts descended rapidl y estimated appr oximate ly 1000 feet) , then disappeare d . On [REDACTED]/2026, Page 2 of 2 or while “squinting,” the lights appeared to each be three separate lights in a triangular or diamond-shaped pattern. [REDACTED] stated that each “cluster” of the three lights moved in tandem and never separated, as if all three lights were attached to the same object. [REDACTED] also noted that the cloud cover was heavy at this time, to the point that no stars were visible. At approximately 2350 [REDACTED], [REDACTED] witnessed two lights on or close to the ground to their east, which were only visible using NODs. One of the lights moved west toward their position and the second, which was south of the first, moved north and stopped in the vicinity of the first light. Both lights appeared to stop approximately 200-300 meters from their position. As [REDACTED] watched these lights to his east, he saw a rapidly moving streak of light on the periphery of his vision. [REDACTED] described it as analogous to how a sparkler or flashlight looks at night if someone moves it quickly, where the “light tail” is visible behind the light source. [REDACTED] turned to look at the source, but was only able to see a bright hue of light emitting from the vicinity, as the source was in a defilade. The hue moved north, following the defilade until it faded out or disappeared. The lights to their east also disappeared. [REDACTED] then got into their vehicle and attempted to drive east to the vicinity of their observations but were unsuccessful. They then returned to their original position, parked and exited the vehicle. After some time, [REDACTED] walked back to the truck to check his phone and give his eyes a break. [REDACTED] then asked [REDACTED] what time he had and relayed that his watch was 25 minutes fast. [REDACTED] was wearing a digital [REDACTED] watch, which displayed the same time as their cell phones and the vehicle clock. [REDACTED]’s watch was the only analog/non-digital clock and was the only clock that was different. [REDACTED] relayed that he had known [REDACTED] for years and described him as “squared away.” Having an inaccurate watch or faulty gear was not something he would let happen. Moreover, [REDACTED] had been looking at his watch throughout that day/night and it had been accurate up to that point. [REDACTED] stated he did not have any physiological reactions/effects during or after the above-described events.
