GEIPAN Case 2018-12-50686 — FORET-FOUESNANT (LA) (29) 10.12.2018
A GEIPAN D1-classified witness questionnaire documenting a single observer's 90-second nighttime encounter with a silent rectangular yellow-and-green luminous bar near La Forêt-Fouesnant, Finistère, on December 10, 2018, including a reported post-observation radio malfunction.
Brief
At approximately 07h35–07h45 on December 10, 2018, a lone female motorist on a private driveway in La Forêt-Fouesnant (Finistère, Brittany) observed a low-altitude rectangular bar emitting an electric-yellow light with a large fluorescent-green circle at its center. The UAP moved slowly east, then pivoted to face the witness due south and held stationary for roughly 20 seconds before resuming eastward travel and disappearing into ground mist. No sound was detected with windows down; after the event the car radio display screen ceased functioning while audio continued, and had not recovered at the time of filing. GEIPAN assigned the case classification D1 (phenomenon non-identified).

Key points
- Observation lasted approximately 1 minute 30 seconds between 07h35 and 07h45 local time in complete darkness on December 10, 2018.p.3
- The UAP appeared as a single rectangular bar glowing electric-yellow, with a large fluorescent-green circular light at its center that protruded beyond the edges of the bar.p.6
- Apparent angular size was 48–50 cm measured on a ruler held at arm's length; elevation estimated between 30° and 40° above the horizon.p.6
- The phenomenon covered approximately 120° of sky arc during the observation.p.8
- The bar pivoted to face the witness due south and held stationary for approximately 20 seconds before resuming its eastward track.p.2
- No sound was detected at any point, with car windows fully lowered and radio turned down.p.6
- The car radio display screen stopped functioning after the observation; audio was unaffected. The witness stated she had been unable to restore normal operation by the time she filed.p.5
- The witness repositioned her vehicle twice along the driveway to track the object, and the object appeared to respond each time by altering orientation.p.2
- The witness declined to report to the gendarmerie out of fear of ridicule and made no report to police, ufologists, journalists, or online forums before contacting GEIPAN.p.14
- The questionnaire was signed and certified on January 3, 2019, nearly four weeks after the December 10, 2018 event.p.15
Verbatim

Most interesting
- The phenomenon appeared to track or respond to the witness's movements: it pivoted and held stationary facing her on each of the two occasions she repositioned her car along the driveway.
- The fluorescent-green circular light protruded beyond the edges of the rectangular yellow bar, making the UAP a compound luminous structure rather than a uniformly lit object.
- The radio malfunction was asymmetric — the display screen failed while audio continued — consistent with a localized electromagnetic effect on one subsystem rather than total power loss.
- Despite low altitude, low speed, and a 90-second observation window from an open car window in silence, the witness explicitly ruled out both aircraft and drone, noting the impossibility of a drone 'in the middle of the night coming from nowhere.'
- The witness covered approximately 120° of sky arc in roughly 90 seconds, implying the UAP traversed a wide angular swath at a pace slow enough to track on foot or by car.
- Pages 7 and 12 of the PDF are absent from the extracted text, consistent with image-only sketch or map pages submitted as part of the GEIPAN questionnaire package.
- The witness answered 'Non' to the GEIPAN question asking whether the experience had changed something in her life — notable given the apparent interactive behavior she described.
- The questionnaire form version (V3-13, September 2018) was issued the same quarter as the event, indicating GEIPAN's reporting infrastructure was current at the time of filing.
