This is the second in a series of three images taken by astronauts aboard Space Shuttle Columbia during STS-80, which flew November 19 through December 7, 1996. In this frame the unidentified object appears near the center, to the right of the limb of the Earth. NASA's description notes the object appears to have rotated or tumbled about its major axis, behavior the record calls consistent with a free-floating object.
