In January and February 2015, Navy F/A-18 pilots attached to the USS Theodore Roosevelt Strike Group operating off the U.S. East Coast recorded two FLIR videos, Gimbal and GoFast, showing objects exhibiting no visible propulsion or control surfaces; one object rotated against the wind while the other tracked at low altitude over ocean at speeds the pilots could not explain.

The Pentagon confirmed the videos as authentic in September 2019 and formally released them on April 27, 2020, alongside the 2004 Nimitz footage. Navy pilots involved subsequently provided on-record statements that these encounters were not rare during the 2014–2015 deployment, objects were reportedly seen almost daily. The Senate Intelligence Committee received classified briefings on the incidents in 2019.
