On March 8, 2024, the Department of Defense published AARO's Historical Record Report Volume 1, a congressionally mandated review of U.S. government UAP involvement since 1945 that identified approximately two dozen separate investigative programs and concluded that no investigation had confirmed any UAP was of extraterrestrial origin.
The report, cleared by the DoD's Office of Prepublication and Security Review, covered programs including Projects Sign, Grudge, and Blue Book, the UAPTF, and AATIP. AARO stated it found no evidence corroborating the existence of a crash retrieval and reverse-engineering program as claimed by witnesses including David Grusch. Critics noted the report's scope was limited to records AARO could access within existing classification frameworks.
