Quick facts

What is AARO?
AARO (All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office) is a Pentagon office created in July 2022 to receive, investigate, and resolve U.S. government sightings of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) across air, sea, space, and trans-medium environments.
When was AARO created?
AARO was established in July 2022 within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security, succeeding the earlier AOIMSG and AOIMEXEC offices.
What kind of reports does AARO receive?
AARO receives standardized UAP Mission Reports (MISREPs) from U.S. military aircrew, sensor operators, and observers. These are forwarded from operating units after a sighting cannot be resolved through normal intelligence channels.
